The Women’s March is one of the many ways women came together in 2017 to raise their voices for women’s rights and gender equality and it will occur again this year on January 20th. The rally begins at 11am and the march starts at 12:30pm. For more specific details, visit the website.
Since it was founded five years ago, Free Range Office has not ceased working to empower and support women.
As a female run and operated small business, Free Range strives to sustain a female friendly and safe coworking space. It has a Women’s Truth to Power Collective to support empowerment, education, and entrepreneurship among women and organizes many women-focused events.
Last March, Free Range took part in “A Day Without a Woman”, a movement that encouraged women around Chicago to take the day off, wear red, and only shop at women owned businesses. On the day, Free Range offered as a sanctuary space in which women could make their voices heard through letter writing, as reported by CBS and WGN. Alisa Hauser on DNAInfo, wrote that the event –held on International Women’s Day – offered "a full day of collective action and community support," plus a free coworking space and childcare for all attendees.
Free Range Office regularly holds coffee talks and workshops, many of which are led by women for women. For instance, there was a Women’s Collective meeting held at Free Range last May. Recently, discussions and seminars have been offered by business women Kimberly Abhold, Melissa Ford, Becky L. Duncan, and Free Range founder Liane Jackson.
For the Women’s march this year, our team at Free Range Office is proud and excited to announce that we will be opening our doors to all marchers for a space to warm up in Wicker Park as well as enjoy free coffee and pastries. If you would like to drop by on your way to the blue line going downtown or heading back home, please RSVP here so we can get a headcount and – more importantly – so we can make sure that the muffins and croissants won’t run out!
