How to Embrace Your Geekness in Chicago
“Embrace Your Geekness Day” was this week, but we think we should all embrace our geeky sides every day. In celebration, we’ve compiled a quick list of ways to get your nerd on in Chicago this summer. Check it out and let us know your favorite way to geek out!
Saved By The Max Pop Up Shop Diner and Bar
Everyone is losing their minds over this "Saved by the Bell" themed pop-up diner in Wicker Park and rightfully so! Formerly Geek Bar, Saved By The Max is the brainchild of local events promoter and manager, Derek Berry. A.C. Slater, er, Mario Lopez himself has already endorsed the diner, so you know it’s the real deal. Tickets are extremely limited, so get them while you can!

Pokemon Go Meet Up

Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm and if you haven’t played it yet, you might be living under a rock. While many are worried the game is just another way for people to disconnect by staring at their phones all day, Pokemon Go forces players to venture out into the real world and possibly even meet fellow gamers. A sure-fire way to make new friends is to head to the “First Ever Pokemon Go Meet Up” in Millennium Park this weekend. So, spare us all the lectures about how you have too much “adulting” to do and go download the app.
Movieoke at Tonic Room

Movie geeks, rejoice! For those of us who find ourselves reciting all the lines from our favorite movies at home much to the chagrin of our friends, we now have a way to do so on stage in front of a consenting audience. Movieoke is just like karaoke, but instead of making everyone’s ears bleed with drunken Adele songs, you get to perform one of your favorite movie scenes. Now we just need someone to start hosting Drunk History live…any takers?
Game of Thrones Trivia at Lotties Pub

The season might be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop talking about the Mother of Dragons. Instead of annoying your Facebook friends with GoT memes, head over to Lotties to test your knowledge and go head-to-head with other fans every Monday night in July. Winter is still coming!
Robot Date Night at Robot City Workshop

Looking to take things to the next level with the nerdy girl next door? Instead of going to same old outdoor movies and other cliché summer date spots, impress your special someone at Robot Date Night with your tech skills. You might not be ready to commit to a puppy, but why not start things off with a baby robot and see where things go? Not only do you get to fulfill your childhood fantasy of building your very own robot, you also get to sip on refreshing beer from Metropolitan Brewing and test your robot movie knowledge in a round of trivia!
