Our Top 8 Hanukkah Gifts for the Coworker

Welcome to an experiment. Don’t worry – we’re not testing you, only a blog idea. This is the first part of a 3-part series of posts on our gift suggestions for the holiday season.

This year, Hanukkah will begin on the evening of December 12th and end on the evening of the 20th. If you’re Jewish, you'll know that Hanukkah isn’t really about gifts. These days, it's only associated with gift giving because of its proximity to Christmas. But you can still give gifts for the occasion to celebrate friendship, family, or whatever you want.

Here are some Hanukkah-themed gift ideas for the Jewish coworker in your life.

  • Candles. Hanukkah is the known as the Festival of Lights in the Jewish tradition. It commemorates a day when the one vial of oil found to light the Temple lamp should have lasted one day, but lasted for eight. So buy your Jewish friend some sweet smelling, long lasting candles for their work table, which they can enjoy the whole year through.

  • A Menorah. There are some beautiful menorahs out there for people of simple or extravagant tastes. Just make sure to give this gift before Hanukkah, so it can be used at the right time.

  • A bag of Gelt. Though a newer tradition in the history of Judaism, the chocolate candy Gelt is a fun thing to get for your friend at any time through out Hanukkah.

  • A dreidel. Another traditional gift, the dreidel is a spinning top bearing Hebrew characters. But as this is probably an adult we're looking at, try something dreidel themed like dreidel cookies or lights, rather than the toy itself.

  • A series of 8! This is a cute idea that doesn’t have to be expensive, but which you can give for each day of Hanukkah. Depending on your friend’s tastes, give them a series of 8 gifts, like 1 small candle every day, pen, mini-notebook, or picture.

  • A Computer Stand. If your friend is a Coworkaholic, get them a nice computer stand, portable enough to be used on any desk in their coworking space and extendable so they can stand up and work while taking breaks from sitting.

  • A Coworking Membership: Go in with some friends to buy one of your remote working pals a coworking membership. The mobile membership at Free Range is only $180 for an entire year of coworking, including 10 visits a month and all the benefits of a workspace.

  • A Coworking Gift Card: For something a little smaller, take a look at our coworking gift cards starting at only $25.
