Small Business Saturday @ Free Range

After the hullabaloo of Thanksgiving, going out and joining the mad frenzy of shoppers on Black Friday can certainly be intimidating. The good news is that this year, you can rest the day after Thanksgiving while not missing out. The solution is Small Business Saturday.

Never heard of Small Business Saturday? Understandable, as it’s still fairly new. It was launched by American Express in 2010 to encourage customers to shop at small businesses instead of devoting all their time and money to the big corporate names that steal the day every Black Friday.

Small Business Saturday (or SBS) acts as a break for customers from the chaos of long lines and over-crowded stores on the previous day. It’s also a reminder to support small businesses, which are the backbone of every community.

On the American Express website, you’ll see an exciting countdown to the day as well as a “shop small” map, where you can find nearby shops in your area for holiday deals.
