Tips for Collaboration and Networking in a Coworking Space

Networking cocktail hour co-work

One of the greatest advantages to working in a shared office over working from home is the opportunity to connect with other members. Access to a community of talented entrepreneurs and innovators is one of the major appeals of working in a coworking space for independent workers and startup companies. Getting to know your fellow coworkers creates opportunities for knowledge sharing, partnerships, new leads, referrals and more!

Here are some of our top tips for networking and collaborating in a coworking space:

Initiate Work Trades

When you meet someone who offers something you need, try negotiating an exchange for something that person needs. Not only will you save cash, other members of the coworking space will become aware of your services.

Attend Community Events

Check your coworking space’s events calendar often and try to attend as many events as you can. If you’re not able to make the scheduled events, consider hosting your own.

Eat Your Lunch in the Open

As often as possible, try to take an actual lunch break. It can be tough to take a break when you’re busy, but try to avoid eating in front of your computer. Many coworkers step away from their desks for lunch, so you will likely have an opportunity to chat with some of them.

Talk to your Community Manager

Reach out to your community manager for suggestions if you feel like you are not getting the most of your networking potential. A manager may be able to give you some recommendations for other businesses that may offer complementary services to yours. You can click here to message ours!
